Broken Wing Guitar repairs and restores used, salvaged, damaged, and vintage string instruments.....It began with a background and love of woodworking and acoustic music that developed into a passion as all things that you love do.To get our hands dirty and maybe with a little luck be able to give back some life to an instrument that may have ended up in the trash or someone's attic or closet, and let it make sweet music as it was intended to do. I do not claim to be the finest luthier or craftsman by any measure, just a person with a love for music and the instruments and people that make it.

Guitar Build Update

Update on a couple of things. I have been busy at work so things are taking a while to get to.

I was able to but the kerfed bindings on the sides.

Just needs a little cleaning up and add a couple of side reinforcements. I used Martin blocks that I bought from the factory. They are a triangle mortise and tenon, but the neck that I was going to use has a straight tenon. Oh well, I'll have to work on another neck. I have a nice piece of mahogany on the table in the next picture.

Cut the front and back to rough shape and cut inlaid the rosette. I made the cutout a little to big so I added the small rings to the herringbone to make a bigger rosette

Next up is to put the braces on and get this put together. Have'nt finished the first one and I am already thinking about the Bubinga that I have had for a year or so that is waiting in the wood bin.
